Measure Anything with a Photo

Need to find the dimensions of an object but don’t have a ruler handy? This tool lets you get quick, accurate measurements using nothing but your smartphone camera and a standard card in your wallet. By using a known reference scale, you can calculate the width, height, and even the circumference of cylindrical objects instantly.

1 How It Works

We use a universal standard—the credit card—as a "calibration ruler" to determine the size of everything else in your image.

  1. Place a Reference Card: Set a standard credit card, ID, or gift card (universally 3.375″ wide) next to the object.
  2. Snap a Photo: Take a picture straight on to avoid perspective distortion.
  3. Upload & Calibrate: Upload your photo, then draw a line across the credit card to set the scale.
  4. Measure: Draw a line across your object to see real-world dimensions.

2 Measure Bottles & Round Objects

Measuring the circumference of a cylinder is tricky with a straight ruler. This tool simplifies the math.

  • Calculate Circumference: Measure the width (diameter) straight across the bottle or jar.
  • Enable "Round Mode": Check the "Round Bottle" box. The tool automatically converts diameter into full circumference (wrap length).
  • Perfect for: Determining label sizes, pipe sleeves, or packaging needs.
